PowerTerm – Installation Instructions
- Download PowerTerm for 98 ME 2000 XP software link found at www.ci-inc.com/downloads to your desktop.
- Double click the desktop icon, WinZip Self-Extractor opens. Click Unzip. When files are unzipped successfully, click OK, then select Close.
- Double click My Computer, drive C, EricomProv8.8, and find setup32.exe, then double click it
- The Ericom Software, Thank you for choosing PowerTerm Setup window opens, click Evaluate,
- The welcome to Ericom Software PowerTerm Setup screen displays, click Next, select Accept, on the Software License Agreement window
- At the Select Product window, first choose PowerTerm Pro, then at Sub Product scroll to, For UNIX, and then click Next,
- On the Setup Type Window, choose single user installation, then click Next, Choose Destination Location, use the Destination Folder that is selected, then click Next
- Accept the displayed Program folders then select Next, Complete User Information
- At Check Setup Information screen choose Next. Copying begins.
- Choose Place Icon On Desktop, click OK, then select Exit and launch PowerTerm Pro
Note FOR WINDOWS VISTA USERS (you need to do this ONCE):
- Right Click on the Powerterm desktop icon.
- Choose Properties
- Choose the Compatibility Tab
- Select the “Run this program in Compatibility Mode for” check box
- Choose “Windows XP (Service Pack 2)
- Uncheck “Run this program as an administrator”
- Click on Show settings for all users
- Uncheck “Run this program as an administrator”
- Click on OK
- Click on OK
- Right Click on Powerterm desktop icon.
- Choose: “Run as Administrator” and answer “Yes” to get it to run
- Uncheck Show Tips at Startup, and then click OK. If a Connection Status Box opens, click Disconnect, or wait for time out to occur and click OK.
- Connect window, with Emulation tab, select ANSI, SCO ANSI, hostname = ipaddress of server, then click connect, the terminal screen should display a login prompt.
- Select terminal / setup / general / ups set = code page 851, then Display / enable soft fonts
- Select the printer tab, uncheck the box – Use Form Feed
- Select the preferences tab and make the following changes –
- On PowerTerm Start – click on auto connect
- In the Window title type in The Business Edge,
- On PowerTerm Exit – click on save terminal setup
- Confirm save – Click on yes
- Save Window Size and Position – Click on this box
- On Session Exit – click on auto reconnect
- Click on OK on the bottom of the screen
- Position screen to preferred size and location
- Select View / tools bars – Uncheck Views
- Select View – Uncheck Function Buttons
- Terminal / Colors /- Click on Disable Host Colors
- Select Attribute /normal / text dark blue / background / medium gray
- Select Attribute / reverse / text white / background / dark blue
- Click on OK on the bottom
- Select File /save / save as / c:\program\files\ericom software\powertermpro.ptdef.pts
Notes
- To get the excel link to work, the Vista system also needs this done to it:
- Open the Run command and type “secpol.msc” and click OK. If this does not work, see below
- Click on “Local Policies” –> “Security Options”
- Navigate to the policy “Network Security: LAN Manager authentication level” and open it.
By default Windows Vista sets the policy to “NTVLM2 responses only”. Change this to “LM and NTLM – use NTLMV2 session security if negotiated”.
- If you are not running Vista Business (secpol.msc does not exist), here is what you need to do:
- Run the registry editor and open this key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa - If it doesn’t already exist, create a DWORD value named LmCompatibilityLevel
- Set the value to 1
- Close the registry editor
